What Is 710 and Why is Everyone Excited to Celebrate

Similar to how 420 represents marijuana, 710 is popular slang terminology for concentrates. July 10th will be a holiday to focus on cannabis in all its forms, particularly oils, concentrates and dabs.

710 still isn’t as well-known as 420 so if you haven’t heard of it before today, don’t worry you aren’t alone.

Whether it’s your first time hearing about 710, or you’re a 710 veteran, the information below is sure to be helpful!

What is 710?

710, or 7/10 is widely considered to be a holiday for consuming cannabis oil products. If you turn 710 upside down it spells OIL, a word that’s popularly used to describe highly potent cannabis products.

What makes 710 different from 420?

Although both days honor cannabis culture and promote the many benefits of cannabis, there are several key differences.

420 is more generalized in terms of cannabis usage, whereas some refer to 710 as International Dab Day. This means retailers and cannabis media emphasize oils and extracts instead of the marijuana leaf itself.

Why people Dab

First, dabbing causes the pleasant effects of cannabis to “kick in” much sooner. Often it only takes a few seconds for users to feel high after dabbing.

Second, the vapor produced by cannabis oils, extracts and concentrates is less harsh on your lungs. These methods are considered “smoke-free”. Users who have respiratory issues or dislike the feeling of normal smoke often prefer a dab instead of consuming a cannabis in a pipe or joint.

In conclusion, 710 is a great day to promote cannabis culture and focus on the world of dabbing. You can also expect cannabis retailers to offer 710 sales and promotions. So be on the lookout, and enjoy your holiday!

History of the Hookah

Though hookah is the most widely spread and used name for this smoking device, it goes by
many other different names around the world. Some of them include nargeela, nargile,
narghile, shisha, sheesha, okka, kalyan, ghelyoon, ghalyan, goza, hubble-bubble, etc. Most of
these expressions are of Somalian, Arab, Ethiopian, Indian, Turkish or Persian origin.

According to most testimonies, stories, and writings, hookah reached its full potential in India,
while some people claim it was actually invented in Persia.

What Does Hookah Mean?

The term hookah is derived from the word haqqa, which means “pot, jar” and “cavity, hollow.”
Though it goes by many names, as we mentioned above, people in the U.S. like to refer to this
type of smoking device as shisha. This is, however, incorrect as shisha refers only to the glass
base of this instrument, but the term did catch on.

Hookah History and Culture

Hookah, in the form it exists today, was invented around the 15th century in India. It all started
when the Indian glass manufacturing business started to bloom because the British East India
Company began exporting glass to India. The culture and the mystique behind this device soon
spread to Iran where people started using hookahs to smoke Ajami, a flavorless but strong type
of tobacco.

During the Ottoman Empire reign, hookah really took off. The Ottoman sultans even insisted on
taking portraits with their hookahs. It became somewhat of a status symbol and important
people liked to smoke out of it at diplomatic meetings and royal dinners.
Parts of Hookah and How it Works

A typical hookah consists of several components, each of them equally important for a perfect
hookah experience.

The uppermost part is called the bowl or the hookah head; this is where the coal and the
tobacco is held during the smoking session. Then there are the tray, the stem, release valve,
hose gasket, hose port (where the hose goes in), hose, vase gasket, vase (water base); and in
that order form up to bottom.

Some hookahs have a windscreen that is used to cover the bowl area and keep the wind from
ruining your hookah experience by making the coal burn too quickly.

How it Works

The vase (or water base) is filled with water so the down stem is submerged. Perforated metal
screen or foil sheet is then used to cover the bowl. Hot pieces of coal are then placed on top of
the foil sheet so the tobacco in the bowl can heat up to an appropriate temperature. When the

user starts sucking the air through the hose, more heat is then drawn on the tobacco, which
enables and accelerate the transfer of heat.

By drawing air through the hose, the smoke is being sent down through the down stem and
underwater. Subsequently, the smoke goes up above the water surface in the water base and
into the opening of the hose port, which is connected directly to the hose port. The smoke then
continues to flow through the hose and reaches the mouth of a user.
Hookah Smoking Tips & Tricks

1. Spread the coil evenly across the foil so the tobacco would burn more consistently.
2. Add about 2 inches of wine into the vase for enhanced flavor.
3. Add some citrus fruit (orange, mango, grapefruit) to the water for fruity sensation.
4. Add ice cubes to vase water for ice-cold smoking sensation.

Pipe Filtration: Top Tips for Smokers

There’s nothing like a smooth, clean hit

of our favorite pipe after a stressful day. Dry hits tend to scorch
our delicate throat tissue, and sometimes we can even inhale bits of burnt ash that can turn any
smoking session to an unpleasant experience.

Whether you’re tired of ash clogging your pipe or just looking for a new easy way to achieve smoother
hits, the right filtration technique can go a long way!
Here are our top 3 favorite water and dry pipe filtration techniques:

Add Ice

Ice is a great natural filter for water pipes. Many water pipes now come fitted with ice catchers to keep
the ice in place. The ice will eventually melt for an easy clean up, but the trick is to finish your session
before the ice has time to melt!

Use a Screen

Screens help block large pieces of ash from getting pulled through your device, while still allowing the
smoke to travel through the tiny holes. The easiest way to prevent ash from clogging a dry pipe, or from
ash falling into a water pipe, is to use a screen over the punch to physically block the ash from falling in.

There are both mesh and metal screens which has pros and cons to both, but mostly depends on your

Grab a Cloth

If you need a quick DIY solution, you can wet a thin cloth, ring it out, and place over the mouthpiece
before inhaling. This method is best used for dry hand pipes, or pieces with larger mouthpiece holes and
not a lot of extra filtration.

The next time you want to try a filtered hit, remember the tips above! As always, if you have any
questions related to our products, you can stop by any of our three The Lab Smoke Shops locations to

10 Surprising Benefits Of CBD Gummies

So why exactly should you take CBD gummies? In this blog, we will show you 10 benefits of this tasty treat. Some of them might surprise you!

1) Easy To Take

Do you have trouble swallowing pills? Do you feel like the pills will get caught in your throat? Then you don’t need to fear CBD gummies because they are totally chewable!

2) Non-psychotropic

CBD gummies are non-psychotropic. That means they won’t get you high. It doesn’t matter how many you eat, you’ll never get your world to go psychedelic. You have to take THC for that.

3) Less is more

Instead of smoking 0.7 grams of CBD ganja four times in sixteen hours, you’d only need to pop two CBD gummies during that same time period.

And if you choose to get CBD through your stomach (pills, CBD gummies, edibles), you won’t need nearly as much to feel the effects.

4) Long-Lasting

The CBD in the gummy is released slowly over a period of hours, providing long-lasting relief for your pain or anxiety.

That’s in sharp contrast to the affects you get from smoking your CBD strain in a joint, blunt, or bong. Those effects reach their peak in an hour or less and then taper off to nothing.

5) No harm to your lungs or throat

That may not seem like a benefit for you hard-core, give-me-a-joint-or-give-me-death cannabis peeps. But for those who just need CBD for medicinal purposes, it’s one of the biggest benefits of all.

Even though weed smoke isn’t packed full of chemicals like cigarette smoke, it can still irritate your lungs and throat and lead to inflammation. CBD gummies produce no smoke, no smell, and no respiratory irritation.

6) Available Online

CBD gummies are pretty much legal everywhere and can be shipped by commercial carriers across state lines. And because they are so easy to ship, one of the best places to find CBD gummies is online if you can’t make it in to our shops!

7) Easy to Dose

Whatever brand of CBD gummies you choose to buy, always follow the instructions when first starting. After that, you can increase or decrease the dosage according to your needs. There’s very little risk of getting too much CBD, so don’t be afraid of an overdose or negative side effects.

8) Discreet

One of the nicest benefits of CBD gummies is that you can use them very discreetly. They look exactly like gummy vitamins and gummy candy, so you don’t have to worry about keeping them hidden.

9) Minimal Side Effects

CBD gummies produce only two side effects:

  • Dry mouth

  • Decreased ability to metabolize medication

10) Relieve Pain and Swelling

CBD interacts with the vanilloid receptors in your brain to relieve pain and swelling in other parts of your body.

This is good news for those who suffer from chronic pain and disorders such as fibromyalgia.

If you can’t decide whether or not to try CBD gummies, we’ve got one question for you: “What are you waiting for?”

They’re easy to take. They won’t get you high. They won’t irritate your lungs and throat with harsh smoke.

They last a long time. They’re easy to get ahold of. And they basically have no side effects.

We promise you won’t be disappointed.

Visit any one of our The Lab Smoke Shops locations here in South Florida for our complete stock pile of the CBD gummies you’ve been questioning! Any of our store attendants will be more than happy to answer any questions you have to help you add CBD gummies to your daily lifestyle.

Raw Cones or Rolling Papers: Which is best?

In this post we’ll break down the pros and cons of rolling papers and pre-rolled cones so you can make the best decision for your smoking needs.

Rolling Papers

Tried and true, rolling papers are the original smoke consessiuer accessory.

Special papers used to wrap dry herbs into joints, there are several different materials used to create rolling papers including wood pulp, hemp, and rice paper.

What you use to roll joints has an impact on how quickly or slowly your joint will burn and how quickly you can roll them up.

The best rolling papers are ones that will be easy to roll into a joint and slow to burn. Here are some benefits and drawbacks of rolling papers:

Pros of Rolling Papers

One of the best things about rolling papers is that they’re inexpensive and readily available. Rolling papers are less expensive than pre-roll cones because you do the work yourself, making them a cost-effective way to roll a joint.

Easy to Find

Convenience is another factor that gives rolling papers a leg up on pre-rolled cones. Rolling papers are easy to find. You can purchase rolling papers in most smoke shops, including ours, and some convenience stores which are perfect when you’re in a hurry.

When you’re rolling joints using papers instead of cones, you’re the one in control of the size of what you’re smoking. Unlike pre-rolled cones which are a certain length and width, with rolling papers you can decide how much you want to put into your handiwork.

Cons of Rolling Papers

Not Beginner-Friendly

If you’ve ever tried to roll your own joints, you undoubtedly struggled with those first few. Rolling joints with papers can be challenging.

Time Consuming

Rolling a joint with rolling papers can be time consuming. The act of uniformly rolling up your weed with a flimsy paper makes this an activity that shouldn’t be done on the fly.

Pre-Rolled Cones

Pre-rolled cones are beginner friendly, and time efficient. It's all about preference! Below we discuss the pros and cons

Pros of Pre-Rolled Cones

Good for Beginners

Convenience is the biggest benefit of pre-rolled cones. Since these cones are ready to use, all you have to do is grind up your flower and fill the cone!

Time Efficient

Each pre-roll takes just a couple minutes to fill versus the struggle of rolling papers.

Cons of Pre-Rolled Cones

Uniform Size and Shape

Uniform sizing is a benefit of cones but can also be a drawback if you want to be able to customize your joint.

Like anything in life, convenience has a price and pre-rolled cones are not excluded. Since pre-rolls are manufactured, they’re more expensive because the work has already been done for you. If you don’t mind spending a bit more money so that you don’t have to roll a joint yourself, then pre-rolls may be best for you.

Unlike rolling papers that are flat and packaged the same, pre-rolled cones are conical in shape. Their packaging protects them from being crushed while handling, but that doesn’t mean that they’re uncrushable. If your pre-rolls are out of the tube, they can be easily crushed and destroyed.

So there you have it, the benefits of both rolling papers and pre-rolls. Good news is both can be purchased in any of our The Lab Smoke Shops locations here in South Florida, so you don't have to choose one over the other.

How do you use a water pipe/bong?

One of the main reasons that many users turn to Bongs or Water Pipes is that they’re very efficient. Bongs work similarly to regular Pipes, although they’re usually bigger and often include extra features. The key difference is that Bongs filter the smoke through water to provide cleaner hits, which is why they’re also called Water Pipes.

Bongs usually come with a few main parts. The Bowl is where you put your product, and when you light up the smoke travels through the downstem into the Base. You inhale through the mouthpiece as the top and the smoke is carried through the chamber. Most bongs also have a small hole, which you can cover to keep the smoke inside and release to let it out.

o use a bong, start by filling the base with water. You want just enough to cover the downstem without allowing it to overflow through the bowl or carb. Add a few nugs of your chosen herb to the bowl and light it. Inhale through the mouthpiece while covering the carb with your finger. Once you’ve taken a hit, you can release the carb and exhale.

Usually, smoking out of a bong provides strong hits, making it much quicker to get high than you would with a joint, spiff or blunt. It’s easy to control your high by smoking one hit at a time and stopping once you get the desired effects. If you want to up your high, simply add more herb to the bowl and take more hits.

One of the main benefits of using a bong is that it filtrates smoke through water, making for cleaner and healthier smoke. Research shows that water filtration is very effective in removing unwanted toxic components from smoke, especially in comparison to smoking cigarettes or joints. With smoking often causing damage to the lungs and respiratory system, smoking with a Water Pipe can effectively reduce many of these risks. For a full inventory of bongs, water pipes, and even hookahs, you can visit our locations in Hallandale Beach and Pembroke Pines!

Can You Vape in Public Places?

Vaping has become more popular in the past couple of years, mostly because it is a healthier alternative to smoking. Many people decided to give it a try, and since there are hundreds if not thousands of different flavors and aromas available on the market, the vast majority of people can find flavors that suit their needs.

With the rise of its popularity, the vaping industry caught the attention of legislators and governments around the world because it was not properly regulated. Consequently, the FDA classified electronic cigarettes as tobacco products in 2016, thus banning sales to minors.

Following these regulations, many people were worried about the legality of vaping in public places. More importantly, the repercussions one would have to deal with in case. their use of e-cigarettes was deemed illegal.

So, can you vape in public?

The answer to this question isn't as black and white as one would expect. The simplest answer would be yes you can, but the question of where you should is the more complicated matter.

Most states have different localities where bans do or do not include restaurants/bars,  and workplaces.

Here in South Florida, possession or sale of vapes and vape products under the age of 18 are strictly prohibited and vaping is prohibited in enclosed indoor workplaces, except private residences. Don't get too caught up in memorizing the laws, any establishment you visit is legally bound to post their smoking/vaping rules with the proper signage.

Avoid Buying Bongs and Vapes from Online Vendors
Not all glass pieces are created equal! Recently, there has been an increase in knock-off imported glass
from online companies such as DHgate. These Chinese, e-commerce sites promote a very low cost
however the quality of their products are untrustworthy and almost never last.

You can type in “cheap pipes” to any search bar and have thousands of hits pop up, but less than half
are legitimate brands that provide quality products.

There have always been a lot of cheap glass available, but much like with the e-cigarette industry, glass
manufacturers are producing clones that look like the real deal, but have so many issues with no real
safety precautions. And consumers are not aware that what they are buying may end up being
detrimental to their health!

Here at The Lab Smoke Shops we focus on QUALITY versus QUANTITY when it comes to our customer
